With this project, I created 50 handmade paper collages, using cutouts from advertisements and magazines, as well as scanned and projected media. All collages are in black and white, and the theme of my collages relates back to the first project in my Communiction Design class regarding a chosen object, mine being a digital camcorder. These collages were each spread out into groups based on the principles of typography, photography, illustration, motion/light, and code. There was an emphasis in this project to work on a collage for a certain amount of time, the idea behind it being that spontaneity and creativity flourish in a timed environment, so approximately >5 minutes were given for each collage. Repeating this collaging process over and over taught me how to use a short timeframe to my advantage, as well as find new ways to combine images in both a complex and simplistic way.
