This project is based on the 826 store concept; a children’s tutoring and writing center which has a handful of sites across the US that pull in passersby with their intriguing storefronts and themed interiors. I chose Bend, Oregon to be the city in which my 826 store is hosted, which is known for its high desert, where amateur geologists, also known as “Rock Hounds” scour the ground for rocks, gems, and other rare minerals that may be hiding in plain sight. I decided to play with this idea of rock hounding and combine it with medieval heraldry, almost as a sort of knighthood for rock hounds. Below are mockups for letterheads, storefronts, and other merchandise.
